The 47th annual Central California Lions All-Star Football Game was originally scheduled for Saturday, June 14, 2020 at Alex G. Spanos Stadium on the campus of Lincoln High School in Stockton. Instead, the event was canceled along with spring sports and early summer high school activities after the coronavirus pandemic shut down plans in mid-March.

Even though the game and annual banquet never took place, the football committee still wanted the selected players to be recognized. Mark Tennis published the rosters so the athletes chosen for the North and South teams would still have a public record of the honor, even if the game itself could not be played.

The Lions All-Star Football Classic began in 1974 at University of the Pacific's Memorial Stadium, moved to Modesto Junior College for two years, then spent 2013 through 2018 at Tracy High's Wayne Schneider Stadium. The game had returned to Lincoln High in 2019, where the North won 19-18 to snap a six-game winless streak in the series and improve its all-time edge to 25-19-1.

The committee also thanked the two coaches who had already begun working on the 2020 edition of the game: Booker Guyton of Edison of Stockton for the North and Greg Bockman of Beyer of Modesto for the South.
